The Military Lifetime Pass is available to U.S. veterans, including National Guard and Reserve veterans, and qualifying Gold Star Families. NPS lists accepted proof of veteran status. You do not need a VA disability rating to request it. The pass covers entrance and standard amenity fees at participating federal recreation lands. It does not automatically cover every camping fee, guided tour, reservation charge, or privately operated service.
A U.S. citizen or permanent resident with a qualifying permanent disability may be eligible for the Access Pass. It can provide discounts on some expanded amenities, including certain camping fees. Do not assume your rating percentage alone resolves its documentation requirements. Review the USGS instructions, and ask the specific recreation site which discounts apply.
Check current pass delivery or processing charges, identification requirements, park reservations, timed-entry systems, closures, and accessibility. A free pass is not a reservation. Use the official NPS and USGS pages rather than an old promotion or a third-party seller. Veterans can use their qualifying pass year-round, not only on Veterans Day.
